A Rodian starter ship

At the heart of Star Wars is the vast plethora of starships that lie at its heart - and in Starbound Awakens they are no different. Each ship is produced manually, and also comes with its own special background tiling and upholstery that reflects the space noir vibes of the franchise in general. As of April 2022, only three ship styles are available for play, but that might well change over time.

Starbound Awakens is not compatible with BYOS, but in truth, with custom made ship designs there is so much more that can be done as shown below.

Changes to ships[edit | edit source]

Crew size[edit | edit source]

Unlike vanilla Starbound, the progression of ranks of ships for the races of Star Wars now ensures that you will have 15 crew members, with the last three levels of your ship (the Falcon, Eagle and Condor) being able to support 3 crew instead of 2.

Details:

  • For Sparrow and Kestrel classes, each upgrade increases your max crew size by 2 (normal vanilla progression)
  • In contrast, the Falcon, Eagle and Condor classes each increase your crew size by 3, bringing your max crew size up to a grand total of 15.

NOTE: These changes as mentioned apply to ALL vanilla races, as well as any Felin ships that use files marked "felint0.structure", "felint1.structure", etc.

However, there are two exceptions:

Racial perks and debuffs[edit | edit source]

For the Togruta, the number of crew supported at certain sizes now increases at a progressive rate, meaning that Togruta often can host a maximum of 20 crew members at any given time as opposed to just 15.

  • The basic ship, alongside the Sparrow and Kestrel class ships, a Togruta ship may host 1 extra crew member (totals of 3,5 and 7 crew respectively).
  • Falcon class ships may host 2 additional crew members (total: 11).
  • Eagle class ships may host 3 additional crew members (total: 15)
  • Finally, Condor class ships can host an additional 5, bringing the number of crew a Togruta captain can have on board up to 20.

In contrast, Zabrak characters all support a constant crew size of 7 at all levels.

Fuel capacity[edit | edit source]

Fuel capacity is now greatly increased. More details pending.

Upgrade costs[edit | edit source]

It is now much harder to upgrade ships and you will need to bring Penguin Pete more materials.

Ships and races[edit | edit source]

Greedo's Scrap Ship[edit | edit source]

Used by Rodian and Togruta races. Based on concept art created, possibly for a new Star Wars movie/TV series featuring the Rodian bounty hunter Greedo (the Tier 3 version needs to resemble this unit the most). This ship is noted for its toy gun-like profile like the Derriphan class used by the Sith.

Crusader[edit | edit source]

Used by Chiss.

Scimitar[edit | edit source]

Chiefly used by Zabrak and Bothan races. Note, however, that the Zabrak have a ship crew size penalty.

YT Freighter[edit | edit source]

The infamous line from which the Millenium Falcon is descended. Used by Wookiee and Twi'lek to scour the stars.

Winnebago / Eagle 5[edit | edit source]

If it wasn't used by Mawgs, what else can they use? the Winnebago is eventually upgraded to a massive hulk with a carrying capacity of 15 crew and an industrial twinge to it.

Derriphan[edit | edit source]

Used by the Sith.

Generic Frigate[edit | edit source]

Used by Diathim and Aqualish. Was part of this mod as designed by Nayomi.

Hammerhead[edit | edit source]

Stock ship for most races: Pau'an is associated with it; but future races beyond the Pau'an (ie Givin) may adopt it too.
